Home Sustainability assessments

IC Sustainability's home Sustainability Assessors are experts in helping you to lead a more sustainable lifestyle while cutting your bills and adding value to your home. We specialise in home Sustainability Assessments for Inner-City Melbourne homes.

IC Sustainability offers two types of evaluation:

Our SusHome evaluation provides an assessment of your property and gives a report on the property's current levels of sustainability, water and energy efficiency. This is a great way to assess your property to see when you stand, and to show off your property when it comes to sales time.

IC Sustainability also offers the more in-depth SusLife evaluation, which is our custom home sustainability assessment offering, providing a comprehensive independent assessment of your home and style of living, taking into account all the aspects of our SusHome evaluation plus the following factors:

  • Utility Usage.
  • Transport Usage.
  • Immediate Environment (i.e. orientation, window positioning, construction materials).
  • Your Personal Comfort Levels.
  • Garden / Outdoor Environment.
  • Heating & Cooling Environment.
  • Appliance Audit.
  • Shopping Habits.

Using data gathered from the evaluation, IC Sustainability produces a detailed report providing information such as the current cost of running appliances, your impact on the environment and benchmarks to see how you compare to the average household. We then suggest a series of objective and practical recommendations for adjustments you can make to your home and to your lifestyle to help save money and do your bit for the environment, a win-win situation!

Our report will provide you with the information required to make the changes yourself if you wish, although we also provide project management to help assist any changes you'd like to make. You can see a sample copy of our assessment report here.

How do our home sustainability assessments work?

If you're thinking of using our SusHome evaluation, our assessors will come to your home, take measurements of the building itself and its immediate surroundings and note all sustainability features built into the property. We produce a report for the property detailing all the sustainability features of the property and providing a summary.

For our SusLife evaluation, we get some information about your living habits before our visit. Then our assessors come out to meet with you, talking with you about your lifestyle and the products and technologies that are being used in your home. IC Sustainability assessors take a more holistic approach, looking at the full impact across the whole lifecycle of a product's life, from the resources it takes to create a product, what the product replaces, how the product is used and how it is disposed of at the end of its life.

At the end of your home Sustainability Assessment we produce a report for you detailing your current situation and outlining suggested improvements that will make your home and lifestyle more sustainable. The Some Sustainability Assessment report will also outline the cost savings that you can expect from the suggested changes.

The IC Sustainability Assessors are then available for project management should you not have the time to make the suggested changes.
